The role of an axle in a vehicle:

Support and load-bearing: The axle is the core component connecting the two wheels, directly bearing the weight of the vehicle body and dynamic loads during driving (such as bumps and impacts), ensuring stable vehicle operation.

Power transmission (drive axle): On the drive axle, through devices such as the final drive and differential, engine power is transmitted to the wheels, enabling the vehicle to move forward or backward, and simultaneously adjusting the speed difference between the left and right wheels (such as during cornering).

Steering control (steering axle): The steering axle works in conjunction with the steering system, adjusting the wheel angles through the steering knuckles to allow for flexible vehicle steering. Some axles (such as steering drive axles) combine driving and steering functions.

Enhancing safety and comfort:

Independent suspension with a disconnectable axle can reduce vibration transmission and improve ride comfort.

Proper design can optimize tire contact with the road, enhancing braking and handling safety.
